School Wide Positive Behaviour Support

Quarters Primary School Positive Behaviour Expectations Matrix is to create and maintain a positive and safe learning environment that fosters a school culture of academic, social and emotional growth. A clear set of behaviour expectations have been developed around key school expectations – Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe and Be Inclusive.

The matrix has been developed for staff and students to identify the expected behaviours at Quarters Primary School. The matrix includes appropriate behaviours in specific areas including:

  • Learning spaces
  • Digital space
  • Outside
  • Community
  • Toilets

Be Respectful

We respect everyone’s learning time.
We listen to the thoughts and ideas of others.
We are polite and use our manners.
We share resources.

Be Responsible

We have learning resources ready.
We try our best and use a growth mind-set.
We keep our learning spaces neat and tidy.
We look after all learning resources.

Be Safe

We follow the instructions of all staff.
We wait for a staff member before entering a leaning space.
We are always safe with our movements and actions.
We sit on our chair with all 4 legs on the floor.
We ask permission before leaving a learning space.

Be Inclusive

We include others at all times.
We share resources.
We know that everyone learns at their own pace.

Be Respectful

We look after all equipment by

  • carrying devices correctly with the lid closed
  • not eating or drinking around ICT equipment.

We use ICT equipment with clean hands.

Be Responsible

We hand in our communication devices (phones, smart watches, handheld SIM card devices) at the office before school.
We return ICT equipment to the correct place.
We make sure equipment is placed on charge.
We report any equipment damage to staff.

Be Safe

We use the ICT equipment safely and only for the purpose of learning.
We keep passwords and personal information to ourselves.
We report cyberbullying.
We speak to a staff member if we see someone using websites that aren’t related to learning.

Be Inclusive

We help one another learn new skills by demonstrating and explaining.

Be Respectful

We use our playgrounds to make new friends.

Be Responsible

We look after our gardens and plants.
We put litter in bins and keep our yard clean.
We ensure sporting equipment is cared for and returned.
We return to line when the bell rings to end lunch and recess breaks.

Be Safe

We listen to all staff and speak to a staff member if we see something unsafe.
We follow the rules and play safely.
We are safe in our movements and actions.
We use our hands for helping.
We leave sticks, rocks and stones on the ground.
We stay in agreed play areas.
We are SunSmart.

Be Inclusive

We share playground spaces.
We include others in play.
We help someone who is upset.

Be Respectful

We represent QPS with pride.
We listen to all staff, including excursions staff and guest to QPS.
We respect the environment we’re in and the resources within it.

Be Responsible

We arrive on time and with everything we need.
We look after our own belongings.
We understand we are representing ourselves and QPS.
We participate in the activities offered.

Be Safe

We listen to all staff and follow instructions.
We remain with staff and group at all times.
We follow the rules of the excursion or camp and respect the property of others.
We use all equipment safely and only with permission.
We are SunSmart.

Be Inclusive

We work as a team in activities.
We support our classmates to be part of new experiences.

Be Respectful

We give everyone privacy.
We leave the toilets clean after use.
We are quiet.

Be Responsible

We use toilets and toilet paper for their purpose.
We only put toilet paper in the toilets.
We flush the toilet.
We do not waste soap or water.
We turn taps off.
We put paper towel in the bin.

Be Safe

We ask permission to go to the toilet during learning time.
We keep soap and water in the basins.
We clean up any water or soap spills on the floor.
We speak to a staff member if we see something that is messy or unsafe.

We understand the toilets are for everyone to use.
